A Challenge for Smart People
For the past
two years or so I have been getting posts on my Facebook page from various
people about what is going on in our world. Much of it has been negative regarding the current
occupant of the White House. At first I was alright about this as it made me feel better about what was going on, but over time it has become oppressive to me. Although I am after all a democrat and supported Obama
and most of my friends and family know this, they send me these things because they believe I support this. But I don't support having my Facebook page filled with negative items regardless of who or what they are about, or which side it comes from. Of course, some of what has come my way actually supported the current president and what this has done is created, both in my mind and the minds of the thinking and
conscious folks in the world, a divisive and hateful mix of them against
us. This has to stop, now! I have therefore created this new blog which will allow me to express my personal, professional and soulful thoughts and feelings about various topics which will all be related to learning, growing and evolving and will not be about Trump or any other negative thing. For those who don't know me and want to know more about me and my work check out the links below.
Reflect on What You are Doing
For my first post I am therefore offering a challenge to all the thinking, reflective, conscious and smart people who read this. Here is my challenge: We need to stop posting negative items and thoughts on Facebook and other online places whether these are about politics, religion or anything else. We need to let the news media do the job of posting news and opinions about these things - that is after all their job.
Us Against Them
We need instead to focus on and post only positive and proactive items here on Facebook and other places on the net. Each of these camps or tribes as they might be called, already knows what the other thinks. What we need is some action to change how things are going. We need to respect each other’s point of view and address the things each person needs and wants. We also need to notice and pay attention to the good in our world. We need to appreciate what we have and value who we are as a nation and as individuals. We live in a democracy and we need to remember that, which means we believe we are created to live in a world where all people are seen as equal – not equal in terms of brains and talent and other things – no matter what we want some people will always be smarter, more talented and better looking than we are - but we are all equal in the opportunities this world presents to us – the democratic world of the USA. We are all able to take advantage of and pursue any of these opportunities.
No More Finger Pointing and Blame

We are all able to take advantage of and pursue any of these opportunities.
No More Finger Pointing and Blame
Now in some
cases we may see instances where some people are not able to pursue one of
these opportunities or there are barriers in their way.
This is where those of us who can, and I would say everyone reading this
is a person who can both see this and do something about it, will get busy and do something. We need to take action to fix this, not point
fingers and lay blame. Blame is a losing
game, no matter how you play it. Instead
we need to identify the barriers certain people face and take action to fix
these barriers. This is the key to both
living in a democratic society and being a citizen who deserves to live in one. Remember, living in a democratic society and taking advantage of its benefits but not taking action to fix the
undemocratic problems you see and only pointing fingers and placing blame is what my mother used to call a crying shame.
Get off Your Butt and Do Something
Thinking you are doing something that will change things by posting negative things about who you think is the bad guy is simply sitting in front of your computer reposting negative things – click, click, click - this is you being unwilling to do anything difficult or challenging.
Get off Your Butt and Do Something
Thinking you are doing something that will change things by posting negative things about who you think is the bad guy is simply sitting in front of your computer reposting negative things – click, click, click - this is you being unwilling to do anything difficult or challenging.
So I am
challenging you – get off your butt and do something, something that you care
about. Take some action and when you do
want to post something here on Facebook, make it positive and proactive and
stop pointing fingers and placing blame.
Take the Challenge
Are you up to this challenge – I know I am – starting with this post. I will follow this with other positive and challenging things I see and others see and post them here on Facebook and other on-line sites. Are you in?

Good for you! It's far past time that we disassociate ourselves from the "group think" mentality and THINK for ourselves. Start by watching other channels than CNN and MSNBC. Listen to all sides and then use your own brain to make decisions about Trump or anyone else who pushes your buttons.
